Tigelle-Italian flat bread #breadbakers

"Tigelle" have you ever heard this name.....It is a classic Italian unusual bread even most of bread bakers never heard of............ This bread is like a pancake and English muffin. It is a traditional peasant bread which is crispy outside soft and steamy inside and canbe eaten

I was just browsing the net for a different kind of flat bread for my bread bakers Flat bread event,I came across this unique name Tigelle. I got inspired by its story and its shape and I decided to make this in my kitchen. It is very easy to make and yummy to have with any kind of filling.........

Ingredients:

Flour- 31/2 cups

Water-1 cup

Yeast-2 tsp

 Butter/shortening- 21/2 tbsp

Salt-11/2 tsp

Sugar- 1 tsp

 Butter to grease

Method:

Add 1/2 cup water and heat in microwave for 15 secs and add 1 tsp sugar and a pinch of salt sprinkle yeast and keep aside to bloom.

In a deep bowl add flour and butter mix well till it appears crumbs and add in yeasted solution and remaining water, sugar and salt. Knead to a smooth and pliable dough then cover with clingfilm and allow it to rise for 11/2 hrs.

Heat griddle or grill pan or preheat oven in 200°c.Take out a portion of dough and roll to a disk shape by dusting with flour. Place on the griddle/grill pan and do on both sides with some butter till it  crisps and cook well and Can bake for 7-9 mins.

Now remove from pan and slit them into two apply some sauce or mayo and sprinkle some onions, place an omlete and enjoyyyyy this delicious Tigelle when they are pipping hot................Smiley
